BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Americans are used to getting their coffee, even their prescriptions at a drive-thru. Now, for the first time in Ontario, HotBox Farms is creating a CBD drive-thru in Ontario.
All you have to do is order from an app on your phone, drive up to the drive-thru, get your order, and you can be on your way.
"Seeing the overwhelming support, especially from the older population anywhere from 40 and up they are normally looking for CBD products," says HotBox Farms owner Steven Meland.
The CBD products range from the caramel you put on your ice cream, to the bath salts you put in your tub.
Some people prefer the affects of CBD or Cannaboid Oil, rather than THC found in marijuana.
"They are cousins to one another, but CBD does not have the same euphoric effects that cannabis would have," Meland explains.
"It's something that can help with aches and pains, anxiety, helps them sleep at night."
Meland tells CBS 2 News this isn't a marijuana dispensary, and there is a reason for that, the customers.
"They don't always want to come into the same environment as a dispensary and see all the other products that they have no interest in using," Meland says.
That's why he says the CBD Store is different.
The stores windows are tinted for privacy and only those 21 and up are allowed inside, and they must bring a state issued ID.
"The CBD Store is designed a little differently and will have a different feel then the dispensary does," Meland says. "It is a smaller store and a smaller space and of course the drive up window."
The CBD Store is set to open April 20th, the same day as Eastern Oregon's first Cannabis festival.
"Even though there are no marijuana dispensaries, here in Ontario we will have the CBD Store up and going every customer that comes through that day will be getting a trial sized product for free," Meland says.
The CBD Store is just one of Hotbox Farms two stores in town.
Meland tells CBS 2 News that Hotbox Farms is working hard constructing their own marijuana dispensary in Ontario, which is set to open its doors this summer.
